direction-seeking people
ive got mixed reviews about how i look, people who dont know me think im “dao” and unapproachable and what not. so having said that, people should not approach me right. wrong. somehow, whenever ive been stationary re: while waiting for people and random people just comes up to me to ask me for directions. I dunno why but it happens quite often, this week, i already have 3 people asking me at different places, orchard mrt station, orchard road and below my office. do i look like an information directory or something? geez. the one at the orchard road was a tourist (or believed to be) who actually sprung up to me by my side and asked me how to go raffles town club. i got a shock because he came out of nowhere and all a sudden he walked right next to me. hellooo!!
i seriously dont mind if they are genuine tourists but local people, asking me where;s blk x and whatever. helloooooo. im no miss-know-it-all ok.
bowling
i went bowling today after being spurred on by my love to try something new. Ive been rather resistant to doing something like this because i think i sucked at it and i dun wish to humliate myself in public, literally because everyone else on the next lanes will be looking. So after 13 years of not partaking in activities such as this, I went and did some bowling. Turns out that i wasnt that bad afterall. I managed to get a strike and i mostly had 2 pins left standing and the ball didnt hit the “drain” as much as i thought it might be. Phew. Not so embarrassing afterall, haha. the one thing i realised i should have at least done was to take some pictures! Sigh, i cant believe i didnt think of that for such a historic moment like this. My brain is really disconnected from the rest of my body today. Sucks.
Probably i would try karaoke next? Something which ive been resisting…people whom are close to me would understand why.
the weekend’s here!
102nd post
well its not gonna be an earth shattering kind of entry if you ask me, i just wanted to comment on Blindnesss the movie which i just caught abt 4 hours ago. feeling kinda weird as a matter of fact, cos i dunno what to think and im not even sure how i should even rate it? is it a good movie? well, i dun feel particularly inspired, happy, sad or moved by it,but im a lil affected. Is it a bad movie, well it was not one of those that you will cringe because the plot is crap, the lines were cheesy or that the actors suck. Its none of the above, but im feel kinda affected, a lil strange. Its like you walk out of the cinema and you go hmmm, the same feeling i got when i watched the cloverfield movie (plus a slight headache) and you dont know if there is much point to make such a movie at all, and on that note, i dun particularly enjoy cloverfield nor blindness, but both had interesting concepts.
anyway, blindness’s plot centres around a virus which swept out mankind and leaves them, well, blind so its quite shit, its gonne be the end of the world, the future is bleak kind of feel. It is quite similar to 28days later if you ask me, but 28 days was quite fun because it had the scare factor (cos of zombies) and the kan-cheong feeling, quick quick run, otherwise you get bitten or else you get infected! this blindness one was about well, people becoming blind (virus attack) and in some parts quite melodramatic with men taking charge about food rationing, women having succumb to having sex with men just to get food, so on this part, i was getting quite uneasy but i guess the story just wanted to portray the ugliest, barbaric side of mankind so well. i can accept that,
anyway, i was motivated to watch it cos the review by WYL aint that bad so thought i should give it a shot. Julianne Moore and Sandra Oh are in the movie too. And on a completely random note, i heard something funny about what someone said when the movie ended, “Eh the new paper said this was a horror movie leh, but this one not horror le!” Duh. if you want to watch horror, he should have stayed home to watch ch 5 stephen king’s dreamcatcher. not exactly horror per se, but i think there is at least some gore. Yucks. Dreamcatcher.
tropic thunder, woo hoo!
Byong: We no get money yet. Price now 100 million. You pay now, or tomorrow Simple Jack Die!
Les Grossman: Great. Let me get this down. 100 million… Oh, wait! I got a better idea. Instead of a hundred million, how about I send you a hobo’s dick cheese? Then, you kill him. Do your thing, skin the fucking bastard. Go to town, man. Go to town! In the mean time and as usual, go fuck yourself.
Kirk Lazarus: Everybody knows you never go full retard.
Tugg Speedman: What do you mean?
Kirk Lazarus: Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, ‘Rain Man,’ look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sho’. Not retarded. You know Tom Hanks, ‘Forrest Gump.’ Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain’t retarded. Peter Sellers, “Being There.” Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don’t buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, “I Am Sam.” Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed…

cold rock creamery
i finally tasted the bubblegum flavour, which seems to be the perennial fav amongst children (nice colours thats why), but it aint that tasty so….anyway, i had the mango flavour as well, topped off with blackberries or blueberries (cant remember, haha) and i felt i was eating some artificial sweets chilled. hmmm oh well, the swing was cool though and i had a really nice dinner before that so probably thats why the ice cream paled in comparision.
Andrew had the honeycomb and white cookies and cream, topped with Crunchie chocolate bar. Anyway, the sound of this already tastes good.
Its the XO fish beehoon at Holland Drive, Blk 46, near Holland Road Community Club. Nice man! Slurp! The prawn paste chicken is equally good

what gets me off
i simply cannot stand people who takes a bloody long time to flash their ezlink cards at mrt gantries and they just stand there, i dunno wth for, ok, probably checking the residual value or what right. But so what? u still need to get through the gantry so even if you check now, there is no point isnt it?! It doesnt help if there are throngs of people passing through the stations during peak hours and you know how rush hour trains are dont you? You can be 1 min delayed (due to the actions of stupid ppl like this) and you can miss the train at the platform. I can understand if one doesnt recall the remaining value of the card and is afraid he/she cant get through because he has like $0.10 left or something like that. BUT hey, if there is the case, the panel will go red and will prevent from you from passing through anyway, so there is NO Need to linger around and check your value when the machine does so for you in the 1st place!!!
I know i sound like a kancheong spider like missing trains ad shit, but at least im not one of those who rushes in the train when the train goes, train door closing…beep beep beep, that;s even more horrifying right, imagine everyone at that cabin staring at you as you rush in and worst still if you cant make it in. And the most mortifyingly (such a word?!) of it all, you dash in and part of you get stuck on the doors or your possessions get stuck. Great. Morons.
movie frenzy
havent watched movies for a while, so we went on a frenzy and watched a couple to start off. First up was Eagle Eye and then followed by haha The House Bunny (bimbotic! great). The motivation to watch the first one was really that the trailer was pretty well-made and Shia Le Beouf is starring in it! So how bad can it be right? haha Steven Spielberg’s muse eh. hee Anyway, he is getting older (or maybe its just the unshaven look), i jus thought he didnt look as good as he was in disturbia (another awesome show). Anyway, the movie review for EE kinda sucked but after watching it, i didnt think it was that bad? Probably 3.5 popcorns? The newspapers and 8 days gave like 2.5 or something. cruel. hahaha
The House Bunny! hahaha its interesting cos you wil think its another disaster movie or american pie 6 crap but it turned out to be pretty decent.apart from Anne Farris inflated upper lips (lip implants, are we!) the plot was cool and there was a moral behind all that. You know about the looks, superficiality etc. We had quite a lot of students watching the show when we were in cine i think some of them were pretty inspired by the plot. like hey, im a nerd, but i can be transformed……..yeah! to a c ertain extent, thats true but i think you need to want it first before any transformations can be made. The bunch of school misfits from THB knew they were losers, unattractive and boys didnt dig them,. so with Anne Farris around, she could actually help them bcos she;s good at looking good? But i was ust thinking that if the nerd actúally thinks he/she is the coolest person in the planet, then what gives yea? I know some people with egos like that. oh well!
anyway, next up, i wana watch the spanish flick (scarlett johanneson) and burn after reading (cohen bothers!)
bak kut teh
bak kut teh was nice at havelock road but they always run out of yew-char-kueh/you tiao whenever i go there. damn! it was raining also and we saw one of the 5 mediacorp tigers (remember: andrew seow, thomas ong and all?) hahah need to go back there one of these days, yum. they serve the best sian-chye too..hmmm
